The Dig - Game Soundtrack

The Dig was the first game LucasArts decided to release a soundtrack from. It has been published by a real Audio-CD-Company: Angel Records, and it was available through some e-commerce distributors like Amazon.com! Unfortunately I have heard that most distributors have sold out the CD, so it is quite hard at the moment to still get a copy of this CD. If anyone still knows a place where the CD of The Dig is available, please mail this information to me and I will post it in the News section.

I really love the CD... when you hear these atmospheric songs, you really feel like back on Cocytus. However I must warn you: All the tracks of this CD are very slow and ambient. Most songs use the same few main themes and that's why they all sound a little similar. If you have played the game and if you sit down, relax, and listen to the music loudly, it sounds great. But if you use the CD in background (like when you're driving), it can sometimes drive you nuts ;-)

On the CD:

1. Mission the the Asteroid
2. Another World
3. Ghosts
4. The Ancient City
5. Underwater Cavern
6. A River Canyon
7. The Madness of the Crystals
8. Tomb of the Past
9. The Monument
10. Dimensions in Time
11. Cathedral of the Lost

Grim Fandango - Big Band, Bebop and Bones

Unlike the Dig-soundtrack, this soundtrack has been produced and distributed by LucasArts themselves. It is available via some occasional special offers and via the Lucas Arts Company Store - people who don't live in the United States or Canada can purchase the soundtrack at synSONIQ Records.

This soundtrack is really cool. It features most of the games best pieces; but still, there are some nice pieces that are not included. The CD has an excellent quality - the only negative point is that most of the pieces are quite short (mostly 1 minute - there are even two pieces that last for about 20 seconds). But still, it is a must have for everyone who has a possibility to get one!!

By the way, you can find a complete review of this CD at Computer Game Music Monthly.

Gone Jackals: Bone to Pick

Well, this is no real game soundtrack by LucasArts. It's a CD from the Gone Jackals, and as you all know, the Gone Jackals made the music for Full Throttle. The CD even includes some songs that were also in the game.
As I don't own this CD, I can't tell too much about this CD. However I do know that this CD is still available at Amazon.com and at synSONIQ Records.

On the CD:

1. Get Outta Town
2. Legacy
3. Let'er Rip
4. Drop The Hammer
5. Born Bad
6. You Don't Know A Thing About Me

Outlaws - Official Sountrack

Outlaws was a spaghetti western game... and besides the really nice cutscenes, awesome voice acting and intelligent gameplay, the music by Clint Bajakian was definitely one of the games best qualities. Outlaws has got the award "Best game music of the year" from Computer Gaming World, and I think it really deserved it: The songs were brilliant, had an excellent sound quality and were really long (most of them were at least three minutes long)!

That's why LucasArts has perhaps decided to release an official soundtrack CD. I don't have the CD myself, but I guess it contains the same tracks than those that were on the two game CDs (the game used redbook audio for the music). But still, it must be nice to have all these tracks on one CD and without the disturbing data tracks (the game was on two CDs). So you can listen to it on your disc-man or your hi-fi, in your car... and everywhere else!

The soundtrack CD is currently only sold together with the game, so it's a good opportunity for those didn't have the game (which also got the "best story" award from PC Games (English)) until now. Just like the soundtrack CD from Grim Fandango (see above), it is (as far as I know) only sold at the LucasArts Company Store, which unfortunately only delivers to the United States and Canada.
